Am I the Wizard of Oz?
Sadly not - I have no curtains or megaphone. However, I do think the Wizard of Oz is a perfect coaching analogy:
In the Wizard of Oz film, each of the characters wanted something that they thought was missing. The Wizard of Oz used their best resource - themselves - to show them that they had it all along and simply needed support to access it. He didn’t have the magic answer locked away behind his screen and, at the risk of disappointing you, neither do I. However, he had some great coaching skills and acted as a powerful facilitator to enable each character to access what they wanted and be who they most wanted to be.
Inspired by the Wizard of Oz, I established Emerald City Coaching to deliver coaching and facilitation services using a mix of one-to-one coaching sessions and group workshops.
Coaching is not about changing you, or teaching you tricks to fool others, and yourself, into thinking you’re someone else. Coaching is about accessing our best resource - ourselves - to live the most amazing, powerful, enriched lives that we can. And yes, before you ask, I do think this is possible for EVERYONE.
If I’m a Life Coach then my life must be pretty much perfect, right?
Well, that would depend on your definition of perfect. Yes, I live the life I choose but I’m not ‘done’. My saboteurs may be quieter these days and I have learnt some great tricks for getting them out of the way when I want to do something but there are still days when it seems like they are all I can hear. It’s at these times when I’m glad I have my coach. She is also there when things are going well. So what’s her job then? Simply, to turn up the heat and challenge me to ‘play bigger’.
